Swansea agree deal for Ajax defender

Premier League outfit Swansea have reached an agreement to sign Dutch centre-back Mike van der Hoorn from Ajax, according to De Telegraaf.

The youngster has arrived in England to undergo a medical after the two sides agreed on a transfer fee, believed to be €2.5 million plus bonuses.

Swansea have definitely secured a good deal for one of Netherlands’ most talented defenders, but it is important to note that his contract at Amsterdam ArenA was due to expire in a year’s time.

Mike van der Hoorn, 23, joined Ajax from Utrecht three years ago and he has since made a total of 33 Eredivisie appearances.

The talented centre-back featured in 15 league fixtures last term, starting 13 of those games and scoring one goal in the process.

Chances are he will not be the only Dutch footballer arriving at Liberty Stadium this summer considering that Swansea are on the verge of recruiting Leroy Fer.
