With Stoke already relegated and West Brom needing an improbable series of events to stay up, the battle for the final relegation spot comes to a head when Southampton travel to Swansea on Tuesday night.

For the hosts, although many believed that the appointment of former Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal would guide the Swans to Premier League safety, the Welsh side have drastically dropped off the pace and have now freefallen back into the relegation zone. As for Southampton, with only a last-gasp equalizer at Everton on Saturday denying Mark Hughes back to back victories, although The Saints have shown recent signs of improvement, the South Coast club only see their goal difference keeping them above the bottom three and have now won just one in their last 10. With both sides playing out a 0-0 draw back on the opening game of the season, six of Southampton’s last 10 away Premier League victories have been against sides starting that day in the relegation zone.
