Swansea keen to keep hold of Michu

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has insisted that the South Wales club have no intention of selling Michu amid reports that Anzhi Makhachkala could make a move for the Spaniard, the Express understands.

The Russian transfer window does not close until this evening, something which has led to the side, who currently sit bottom of the table, being linked with the 27 year old who has not played for over three months due to an ankle injury.

However his manager, who recently replaced the outgoing Michael Laudrup, has said that the former Rayo Vallecano man’s focus is merely to return to fitness ahead of the sides battle for Premier League survival.

Despite sitting in twelve place in the English top flight, the Swans’ defeat to Liverpool left them just four points above the bottom three with eleven games remaining, something which has seen their odds for relegation remain at 12/1.
