The Chronicle has learned that Swansea could make a move on Newcastle striker Papiss Demba Cisse.
The Swans are in the market for a new centre forward as Wilfried Bony is set to complete a move to Manchester City and they appear hot on the trail of the Senegal international.
Swansea will have money to spend as they are expected to earn around £30 million from Bony’s sale and they aim to use a portion of the transfer fee on signing Papiss Cisse.
The experienced forward has one and a half years left on his deal at St James’ Park and it appears he is considering his options at the moment.
“I have one and a half years left on my contract,” Cisse told reporters while on international duty.
“Today I focus on the African Cup of Nations. Then we will see how things will evolve and my future with Newcastle.
“We talk about a lot of clubs, Swansea and others.”
Papiss Cisse, 29, has done really well since joining the Magpies from Freiburg, having bagged a total of 32 goals in 87 Premier League appearances.
Managerless Newcastle host high-flying Southampton next weekend and they are 13/5 to emerge victorious.
