Swedish defender linked with Premiership move

Swedish centre-back Victor Lindelof has become the subject of interest from a number of Premier League sides, Record can reveal.

The 21-year-old was on the verge of joining Middlesbrough in January having struggled for playing time at Estadio da Luz, but Benfica coach Rui Vitoria pulled the plug on the deal due to a serious defensive crisis.

That proved to be a very good decision as Lindelof took advantage of injuries to Luisao and Lisandro Lopez to nail down a regular starting berth, and he quickly showed what he is capable of.

As a result, several Premier League sides have contacted Benfica with a view of making a summer bid for the youngster’s services, but they have been told to wait until the summer.

Namely, Lindelof has also established himself as a first team regular in the Sweden national team and the Eagles expect his price to increase further after the tournament finals in France.
