Still with their sights set on securing a spot in the AFC Champions League this season, Sydney will host rock-bottom Central Coast Mariners on Sunday morning.

Staring with the hosts, while Sydney might be coming off the back of a shock 2-1 loss away at Brisbane last weekend, Graham Arnold’s side will be glad to make a return to Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Sunday. Now winning their last five home matches, including putting five past Central Coast last month, Arnold will be looking for former Bolton striker Adam Le Fondre to carry on his impressive tally. Scoring in his last appearance in Sydney, the 32-year-old has already bagged 12 A-League goals this season. Now unbeaten in their last 14 matches against Sunday’s visitors, the Blues should be confident of enjoying another fruitful morning in the final third.

As for the visitors, slumping to a 2-0 loss away at Western Sydney last weekend and now sat six points adrift at the foot of the A-League things really couldn’t be going any worse for Central Coast. With Paul Okon’s side enduring a four-match losing run, they have also now managed to pick up just one league victory in the last 12 months. Also now shipping a remarkable 48 goals in their 18 A-League appearances, no team in Australia’s top-tier holds a worse defensive record. Given the gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing another difficult afternoon for Okon’s men.
