With the chance to leapfrog Melbourne Victory to second spot in the A-League, a resurgent Sydney FC side will travel to the Suncorp Stadium on Friday morning.

Starting with Darren Davies’ Brisbane side, coming off the back of shipping four goals against Adelaide last weekend, the Roar now find themselves at the heart of a battle at the foot of the table. Enduring a winless run that extends 12 A-League appearances and all the way back to the end of November, the Friday’s hosts hold just a three-point advantage over Central Coast Mariners. Along with now failing to win any of their last four matches at the Suncorp Stadium, Davies will be growing more concerned by his sides recent defensive issues. Remarkably conceding 15 goals in their four previous home matches, only Central Coast hold a worse defensive record in the A-League.

As for the visitors, putting in a very impressive showing in their 2-0 win over Melbourne City last weekend, it has been an eye-catching start to the New Year for Graham Arnold’s side. With the chance to leapfrog the Victory to second spot, the Blues have now won four of their last five matches in the top-flight and will be excited by the ongoing form of former Bolton striker Adam Le Fondre. Finding the net last weekend, the 32-year-old already has 12 goals this season and should be confident of extending his tally. Given Sydney’s resurge entering 2019, we’re backing the Blues to leave Brisbane with all three points on Friday.
