Szczesny punting on Arsenal form

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny said he would still gladly put money on the Londoners winning the Premier League title this season.

A disastrous start to the season prompted fears the Gunners might miss out on European football altogether, but a run of 10 wins from their last 11 matches has turned the campaign around for Arsene Wenger’s men.

They remain 12 points behind English Premier League leaders Manchester City, but Szczesny insisted he still has not given up hope of Arsenal lifting the trophy in May.

“I’d put a tenner on it. I completely believe in this club and if we win every single game like we have been recently then why not?” he told the club’s official website.

“Obviously the mood has turned around and so has the belief. We believe that we can win every single game and if we can do that we are confident.”

“I think it’s all about the spirit in the team now. There’s obviously been a few good results and we’ve got our confidence back.”

“I think we just need to keep going and show everyone that we can be consistent.”

Szczesny added he felt rival clubs still doubted Arsenal’s standing in the ‘big four’, and the Polish international wanted to continue to disprove the doubters.

“I think we still have a point to prove. We’ve picked up a bit of form and a few good results but we still have something to prove,” he said.

“I think you have to judge us over the course of the season. If we can keep going as we have been in the last few weeks then we will show people how good we really are.”

“I think it will still take a few weeks to prove to people that.”

Szczesny tipped City to dip at some point after their blistering start to the season, and hoped Arsenal could take full advantage of the unpredictable nature of the Premier League this year.

“(City) have been fantastic but I am not convinced they can keep going like that for the whole season,” he said.

“They will drop their form at some point and I hope we can use that to our advantage.”

“It surprises me the amount of goals that have been flying in. The quality of the players in the Premier League is probably as good as ever.”

“Anything can happen in this league, I think we have seen that over the last few seasons. A bad team can beat Manchester United and then they can go and lose 6-1 to Manchester City.”
