(GSM) – Olympique Marseille’s Taye Taiwo has moved a step closer to joining the Premier League after the Ligue 1 club have reportedly started scouting for a replacement.

According to La Parisien, the Ligue 1 defending champions are interested in signing Boca Juniors left-back Fabien Monzon after 25-year-old Taiwo expressed his desire of a move away from Marseille.

Marseille signing Monzon would mean Liverpool & Tottenham Hotspur target Taiwo would call an end to his time in France.

The Nigerian international, who had lost his place to Argentine full-back Gabriel Heinze, revealed, “If I stay in Marseille I want to play week in week out. I am a football player not someone to sit on the bench and get paid. My ambition has always been to play at the top level. Spurs are a fantastic team in the best league.”
