Aaron Ramsey’s current Arsenal contract expires at the end of next season, and manager Arsene Wenger has revealed the talks about extending it are ongoing.
Wenger says he’s not worried about the situation because there is still time, more than a year, to reach an agreement. He also says he’s keen for the player to stay, but it’s important to find that agreement and for the feeling to be mutual.
The Frenchman stressed that he doesn’t want to have to convince players to play for Arsenal, he wants players that will relish the opportunity to play for the club, as that reflects the values nurtured by the club.
Ramsey’s importance for Arsenal came to the fore once again when the Welshman scored a brace in Thursday’s 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow as the Gunners put one foot in the Europa League semifinals. Their only hope of reaching next season’s Champions League is to win the competition, as their chances of finishing in the Premier League’s top four are practically non-existent.
