Taylor closing in on Hull switch

Championship promotion hopefuls Hull City are closing in on a deal for former Newcastle United man Ryan Taylor, according to Sky Sports.

The 30 year old, who was released by Newcastle at the end of last season, has been linked with a number of clubs including fellow second-tier outfits Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers, though he is training with the Tigers and a deal is expected to be completed in the next 48 hours.

In five-and-a-half years in the North East, Taylor made just one hundred and six appearances in all competitions though he has struggled with injury, spending no less than twenty-six months on the side-lines.

Prior to his move to St James’ Park, the former England U21 international spent three-and-a-half years with Wigan Athletic, while he began his career on Merseyside with Tranmere Rovers.

Hull are currently third favourites for promotion behind Derby County and Middlesbrough, and can be backed at a price of 10/3.
