Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Alex Teixeira said he is wary of Bayer Leverkusen ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday.
Shakhtar currently top Group A – with a victory over Real Sociedad and a draw with Manchester United in their two matches – but the 23-year-old Teixeira is not willing to get complacent ahead of Wednesday’s clash.
The encounter will see the Ukrainian side face an in-form Leverkusen, who are unbeaten in their last six games, and Teixeira is well aware of their threat.
“I watched their matches with Sociedad and Manchester United,” he told the club’s official website.
“Bayer (Leverkusen) are a pretty strong team, who operate in an organized manner. We need to play carefully with them.
“Bayer (Leverkusen) are like Shakhtar. They always try to attack. We need to follow Mister’s (manager Mircea Lucescu) instructions and do everything to get a positive result.
“We have had certain success in the first two matches of the Champions League, but we cannot be complacent. We have difficult games. We have to show our best and display our football.”
Lucescu’s team have also enjoyed a good run ahead of Wednesday’s match, having lost just twice in their last 17 competitive matches.
