According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants Ajax striker Brian Brobbey to join his ranks this month. However, getting the transfer done will not be easy, with Ajax not interested in selling halfway through the season.
Having worked at Ajax previously, Ten Hag has a history of bringing players from his former to his current club. Most notably, he convinced his employers to spend just under €200 million on the likes of Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Andre Onana. Donny van de Beek, who also played under him at Ajax and made the switch to United before Ten Hag, never really got a chance under his old coach and he’s currently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.
With Anthony Martial likely to leave the club soon and Rasmus Hojlund still to justify the €73 million spent on his signature last summer, adding another striker to the squad surely makes sense for United.
Brobbey, 21, has so far scored 13 goals and produced four assists 25 matches across all competitions for Ajax.
