Colombian striker Teofilo Gutierrez is widely expected to leave Sporting CP at the end of the season, O Jogo has suggested.
The 30-year-old only arrived at Estadio Jose Alvalade in the summer, joining in a €3.4 million deal from River Plate, but he has since failed to live up to the expectations.
Having scored mere 3 goals in 14 league outings, while also creating problems off the pitch, Gutierrez will be forced to look for a new club at the end of the season.
Brazilian giants Internacional Porto Alegre are keen on the experienced footballer, but they are not ready to offer more than €2 million for his services.
Even so, a return to South America appears on the cards for Gutierrez, who has been Colombia’s leading striker in recent years and started three of four 2018 World Cup qualifiers for los Cafeteros.
But, he never quite managed to prove his worth in Europe, albeit showing some promise during the short spell with Trabzonspor.
