Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim believes his team can pull of a shock when they visit Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Turkish champions managed to beat United in the 1993/94 edition of the competition by following up a 3-3 draw old Trafford with a goalless stalemate in Istanbul.
The 59-year-old coach accepts that Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are the favourites, but is hoping to replicate that famous victory this season.
“I don’t need to tell you how Manchester United are a big club. We respect to them but we don’t fear them. We are going to England for take a good result,” he told the club’s official website.
“Years ago we made history against them. I believe that Galatasaray can repeat that success.”
Terim also said that former Bolton striker Johan Elmander, who picked a knock up during their game against Antalyaspor on Saturday, would be able to play against United.
Both sides warmed up to Wednesday’s game with 4-0 victories in the league; Galatasary thumped Antalyaspor comprehensively, with United achieving the same scoreline at home to Wigan.
