Terry in dark over Hodgson plans

Chelsea defender John Terry is hoping to represent England at Euro 2012, despite having yet to speak to newly appointed manager Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson had vowed to contact both the Chelsea captain and former centre-back partner Rio Ferdinand before picking his 23-man squad next week.

This is in light of the former’s court trial in July after being charged with racially abusing Ferdinand’s younger brother, Anton, although Terry denies the accusation.

Speaking at Chelsea’s Player of the Year awards, Terry said: “I’ve not had any call yet but I’m focusing on the league and Chelsea at the moment.

“Hopefully, I get the call and I’m in the squad – and that goes for many of us here. I’ll always be there for my country.”

Terry looked out-of-sorts in the Blues’ previous match against Liverpool where his side lost 4-1, being outfoxed by Luis Suarez in the build-up to the Reds’ opener before slipping to allow Jordan Henderson in to score.

He will also miss out on the Champions League final after being sent-off for an off-the-ball incident involving Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez.
