According to Sky Sports, John Terry is being considered for a number two spot in Aston Villa’s coaching staff after announcing his retirement from football. The former Chelsea defender spent some time with Villa towards the end of his playing career, and now, it seems as if he could be lined up to take on an assistant manager role. It would likely lead, eventually, to him being a manager, which is a path that Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard have both gone down in recent months.
Villa wouldn’t spring Terry on the new manager, though, and they’d arrange it so that the new boss is familiar with Terry prior to it being made official. As it stands, Thierry Henry appears to be the main candidate for the managerial position which would make for an interesting contrast after their many battles on the pitch during Arsenal vs Chelsea encounters back in the day.
