Tevez accepts misconduct fine

Carlos Tevez will not appeal Manchester City’s two-week fine for misconduct after he refused to warm up during a match at Bayern Munich.

Tevez, 27, had been given a four-week fine by the club, but it was downgraded to two weeks after the Professional Footballers’ Association refused to sanction the original penalty.

While City also sought to prove the player was guilty of a major breach his contract by refusing to play, the PFA backed Tevez’s assertion that he only declined his manager’s request to warm-up.

A club disciplinary panel determined the player to have committed five other breaches of contract for his actions at the Allianz Arena, and imposed a two-week suspension, which was deemed to have been served.

After earlier saying Tevez had no future at City during his tenure, manager Roberto Mancini has since offered the player a route back into the team, saying he could stop training alone if he apologised for his behaviour.

The Argentina striker has not featured for City since the incident in their 2-0 Champions League loss to Bayern on September 27.

In his absence, strong performances from fellow forwards Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli have helped to propel City to the top of English Premier League table.
