Tevez admits he is leaving City; Porto in a hurry to renew Falcao’s contract

Tevez admits he is leaving City

Carlos Tevez is adamant he will leave Eastlands at the end of the season, even though Roberto Mancini recently said that the Argentine was staying at City.

The Argentina international hinted at a possible transfer several times in the last few weeks, but he has now admitted that he wants to leave City.

“I want to leave Manchester City,” Tevez told Radio del Plata.

“Football has changed a lot for me and I don’t know if I will even make it to the next World Cup.

“And that has nothing to do with whether I’m selected or not. I’ve been treated very well here and I’m grateful.

“I also gave my everything for the club to receive the results it has had. But I need a change of scene.”

Tevez has been linked with a return to Boca Juniors, but that looks highly unlikely to happen.

“To go back to Boca Juniors would be beautiful but it is very difficult.

“I spoke to their midfielder Roman Riquelme and, messing around, we agreed I would go back one day. But if we’re speaking seriously, financial issues would make my return difficult.”

Tevez’s latest statements are likely to spark a real bidding war, with Inter and Real Madrid thought to be keen on the Argentine.

Porto in a hurry to renew Falcao’s contract

Porto chiefs are desperate to persuade star player Falcao into signing a new contract, amidst heavy interest in his services.

The Columbia international has really exploded this season, with 17 Europa League goals seeing him attract the biggest European clubs.

Falcao is currently regarded as one of the most prolific scorers in European football, with his price constantly rising over the last few months.

Porto chiefs are, however, determined to keep hold of their star player as they plan to build on what was very successful season and are now ready to offer him a new deal.

The player’s current contract runs out in June 2013, but the biggest problem is that his current release clause stands at just €30 million, which is significantly less than the club’s valuation of him.

With the biggest European clubs expected to step up their interest in the Columbian this summer, the Dragons are eager to have the player sign a new contract as quickly as possible.

Porto chiefs want to set the new release clause to at least €50 million, but we are yet to see whether the player will accept such an agreement.

The Dragons will try to reach an agreement with Falcao before the season ends, which looks highly unlikely despite the presence of the player’s father in Porto.

Denilson: I am leaving Arsenal

Brazilian midfielder Denilson says he will leave Arsenal at the end of the season as he is disappointed with yet another trophy-less season.

The 23-year-old midfielder shocked Arsenal fans by saying that he planned to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.

“This has been the worst season of my life and I am so upset, so frustrated,” Denilson was quoted as saying.

“I am a winner and I came here to win trophies but I’ve been here for five years and won nothing.

“A footballer’s career is over very quickly so it is time for me to move on. This is not a sudden decision. I made up my mind eight months ago.

“I was fed up of coming home and feeling down. But I haven’t said anything until now because I did not want to disrupt the team during the season. And I haven’t caused a big scene.

“I’ve simply been to see Arsene Wenger and told him how I felt and he’s agreed to let me go.

“I know some people will think I am crazy. They are right. It is a great club with a great organisation, a great manager and so many talented players.

“I need a fresh challenge and although I know I’m taking a big gamble I am ready to take that risk.”

“I can’t see myself returning in a Chelsea shirt, or Liverpool or Manchester City – and definitely not Tottenham. I think my future will be in Spain or Italy.”

Having lost his starting place to Jack Wilshire, Denilson has probably made the right decision, although Arsenal fans probably won’t be too disappointed to see him go, considering his under-par performances this season.
