Tevez debacle a shame for such a good player

The latest in the Carlos Tevez debacle is that the PFA are backing the Argentinian against his club Manchester City.

This backing comes with City trying to sue the striker for £800,000 after he allegedly refused to come off the bench against Bayern Munich.

Prerogative

The PFA are bound to back the player as they look after the best interests of the players and not the club. They have no interest in whether he plays for the club or not they just think he is being mistreated in some way.

This may or may not be true but one way or another Carlos Tevez was asked to come off the bench to help his side recover a 2-0 deficit. What happened was he didn’t come on the field and that leads to just one logical conclusion, that he refused to go on the pitch.

Brewing

This argument between Carlos Tevez and Manchester City has been brewing for along time. He has asked to leave the club on numerous occasions but ended up staying. Before that night in Munich he had always given his all on the pitch, even if he was unhappy off it.

Move

There is only one thing this can lead to and that’s the exit of Tevez from the Etihad Stadium. That is exactly what Tevez wants and its likely to happen in the near future. There is an argument for leaving him to rot in the reserves.

However he would still be a disruptive influence within the club just by still being there. City don’t look like budging on their asking price though and that could be a stumbling block to a move.

Good

A fit and healthy Carlos Tevez with his mind in the right place is still a very good player and he could have paid a role in Manchester City’s brightest season in recent times. Instead he is now in limbo and doesn’t look like playing for the club again.

He was the club captain and last season was the fulcrum of the City attack. Even though he claimed to be unhappy in England he still managed to give his all and help City to their first trophy in thirties years.

Obviously Tevez isn’t quite in the top echelon of players, otherwise he wouldn’t have found himself on the bench at Manchester United before he moved to City. You could argue that he developed into a better player at City but I still wouldn’t say he was top class. He is a good player though.

Effort

What I find strange is the fact that he doesn’t speak English after five years in the country. Reportedly he only speaks a few words of the language. Surely after five years in any country most people would have learnt the language.

Communication is a big part of team sports such as football and he owed it to his teammates and employer to learn the language.

Advisors

I have never known a man with so many hangers on, agents and advisors. No wonder he needs to earn £200,000 a week, he needs it to pay all his advisors. He is a one-man PR exercise really.

Every move he makes is dictated by his advisors. I wouldn’t be surprised if his advisors have had a hand in his display of petulance in Munich. However we don’t know how he feels because all his statements are issued by his advisors, like most footballers really.

These advisors and agents are the people that have ruined the beautiful game. These are the people that have pushed footballers wages up to a ridiculous amount, meaning some true football fans have been priced out of the game.

Tevez’s agents don’t care about their client. The Argentinian striker is just a product to them a vehicle to make as much money as possible.

Shame

I haven’t mentioned anything that we all didn’t know before but I had to express my frustration at the fact that Tevez is wasting his talent.

It’s a shame that Carlos Tevez will be remembered for being trouble and not remembered for his talent on the pitch. This is unlikely to be the end of the Carlos Tevez saga and quite frankly the quicker he moves on the better for everyone.

Will Carlos Tevez move away from Manchester City in January?

it was hard to see him leave united for city. BUT NOW, WITH ALL THESE ISSUES surrounding him, am glad he left united now…

I hope he does, for his sake as well as ours. I’m tired of his complaining. Who believes he should just return to Argentina and play for some team there?

I think that would be his best move Brad but I doubt any Argentinian club are going to pay his transfer fee or massive wages.
