Tevez hits back at depression claims

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has rubbished reports he has been seeing a psychiatrist in an effort to overcome depression.

Tevez returned to England from Argentina this week after flying home for treatment on a dead leg which forced him to miss City’s last two matches.

The former Manchester United star also took the time to see his two young daughters, who have returned to their homeland with their mother following the ending of their relationship.

Tevez’s City team-mate Roque Santa Cruz recently suggested his fellow South American was homesick, while reports emerged in Argentina suggesting the player was seeking professional help.

However, a spokesman for the player played down the stories on Saturday.

“There is not a shred of truth in it,” he said. “Carlos is very hurt by these accusations.

“Of course he misses his daughters, just as any father would in this situation.

“But to suggest there is more to it than that, that he is suffering some kind of problem that requires professional help is simply not true.”
