Tevez threatening to sue Mancini

Carlos Tevez is reportedly considering launching legal action against Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini for defamation.

City announced on Tuesday that they had found the Argentine striker guilty of misconduct by refusing to play in their Champions League match against Bayern Munich on September 27, and fined him four weeks’ wages – believed to be around one million pounds.

Mancini said after the 2-0 defeat in Munich that Tevez had refused to come on as a substitute in the match, claims later refuted by the striker, who said he was merely conveying to his boss that he did not need to warm up.

Tevez, who has 14 days to respond to City’s fine, continues to stick to that line and the BBC has reported he is considering legal action because Mancini’s post-match comments were defamatory to his character.

City cited five reasons for their misconduct charge against Tevez, but it is believed the 27-year-old Argentine and his advisors take issue with each of them, paving the way for an appeal and legal action against Mancini.
