Arsenal’s chances in the Premier League title race have taken a severe blow on Saturday, when they suffered an unexpected home defeat to West Ham.
The Gunners played the last 20 minutes of the match with 10 men, after substitute Myles Lewis-Skelly earned a straight red card for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity with a deliberate foul. They still dominated the game in almost every statistical aspect, but they never really created much in front of the West Ham goal, and in the end, Jarrod Bowen’s strike in the 44th minute proved enough for the Hammers to leave the Emirates with the full prize.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was obviously unhappy with the way his team played, and speaking to the press after the final whistle, he took full responsibility for what had happened on the pitch.
“It’s my responsibility… We have to play much better!”😡
