Thauvin reveals Inter offer
Marseille starlet Florian Thauvin has moved to confirm that he was the subject of interest from Inter Milan during the summer transfer window.
Some impressive displays during his debut season at Stade Velodrome saw the 21-year-old catch the eye of Europe’s top clubs and the Nerazzurri were the first to make their interest concrete.
The Serie A side attempted to recruit the winger this summer, but their approach was swiftly rejected by Marseille management.
“The president has had some contact with Inter Milan. After that, I do not know what happened,” Thauvin explained to club’s official website.
“It was very clear to me and the president: it is out of question for me to leave now. Quite honestly, I have not studied the offer. It’s flattering, it’s a great club, but I am at OM.”
Having netted 8 times in 31 league outings last term, Thauvin has enjoyed a bright start to the new campaign, starting all five matches and scoring two goals in the process.
Cavani linked with PSG exit
Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani is again thinking about leaving Paris Saint-Germain, L’Equipe can reveal.
The 27-year-old has been playing on regular basis ever since he joined from Napoli last summer, but he is unhappy with his role in Laurent Blanc’s side.
While he was promised a place alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack, Cavani was first used as a right winger last season and is now operating on the left wing.
And even if he continues to score important goals for the Saints, the Uruguayan reportedly plans to leave the club next summer.
Cavani should have no shortage of offers in case PSG agree to cash in on him at the end of the current campaign, with English Premier League his most likely destination.
Paris Saint-Germain face Ajax on the road in the Champions League group stage this evening, where Cavani is 11/8 to score anytime.
Xavi wanted Barca stay
Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has admitted that he would love to remain at Camp Nou for the remainder of his career.
The Spain international was widely expected to leave this summer, but he ultimately decided to stay with the Catalans for another year.
However, having featured very little under new boss Luis Enrique, everything suggests he will end his long spell with Barcelona at the end of the current campaign.
“If it was up to me I’d never leave Barcelona but these things are decided by circumstances,” Xavi told Canal +.
“I’ve had chances to leave several times but my feelings (for the club) always made up my mind.
“I told them I didn’t want to play for another club against Barcelona and would like to end my career here.”
Xavi has spent his entire career up to date with the Catalans, making 475 La Liga appearances and scoring 56 goals.
