The 3 attacking starlets who are on Arsenal’s wishlist ahead of the January transfer window

While Arsenal might have eventually missed out on a Champions League return last season, the Gunners make their return to action on Boxing Day in the midst of a remarkable purple patch.

Only continuing to gain a string of plaudits from across Europe since opening the 2022/23 campaign, Mikel Arteta’s men now find themselves at the heart of a shock Premier League title charge.

Holding a commanding five-point buffer over defending champions Manchester City, Arsenal have also suffered just a single top-flight defeat this season.

However, handed a real blow as attacking talisman Gabriel Jesus picked up a long-term knee injury while on World Cup duties with Brazil, Arteta is reportedly keen on dipping into the January transfer market.

Ahead of what could be a crucial month in Arsenal’s Premier League title charge, we have taken a look at a few stars who have been linked with a move to north London.

Mykhaylo Mudryk – Shakhtar Donetsk

Although Shakhtar Donetsk might have failed to book their Champions League knockout stage ticket this year, Mykhaylo Mudryk has quickly become one of Europe’s most sort after talents.

Racking up three Champions League strikes this season and continuing on what has been a real breakout campaign, it is no secret that the 21-year-old has a host of Premier League admirers ahead of the January transfer window.

While the eight-cap Ukraine international might have been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea over the past few weeks, The Evening Standard are reporting that Arsenal have made Mudryk a ‘priority target’ in the New Year.

With Shakhtar making it clear that they will not stand in the way of Mudryk pursuing his Premier League dream if they can agree on an acceptable deal, it appears that the talented forward is keen on securing a move to north London.

With Football.London reporting over the weekend that Mudryk is pushing behind the scenes in order to complete a January switch, many fans around the Emirates would be hugely excited by the 21-year-old’s arrival in 2023.

Joao Felix – Atletico Madrid

While Joao Felix might have failed to drag Portugal past their shock quarter-final defeat at the hands of Morocco on December 10th, it appears that the 23-year-old is a star in demand.

Although the former Benfica ace might have arrived at Atletico Madrid back in the summer of 2019 for a staggering fee in the region of £120million, the 28-cap international has failed to make much of an impact this season.

Failing to hold down a regular spot in Diego Simeone’s starting XI, it has been heavily reported over the past fortnight that Felix is keen on securing a move away from the Spanish capital.

Likewise, with Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano suggesting that the former La Liga champions would be willing to entertain a potential deal, Arsenal are one of several European heavyweights who are in the mix.

With The Daily Mail reporting over the weekend that Felix will be offered to Premier League clubs, it is believed that Arteta is an admirer of the Atletico attacker and is keen on making a move.

However, facing what could be a heavyweight battle in January, The Mirror are suggesting that it is PSG who currently sit in pole position.

Ferran Torres – Barcelona

While Ferran Torres might have only left the Premier League 12 months ago, it appears there is a chance the former Manchester City star could be on his way back to England.

With The Daily Mail reporting that Arteta sees the Spanish international as a replacement for Jesus in 2023, the Gunners could be tempted on luring Torres to north London in the New Year.

Although the ex-Valencia forward only arrived at the Nou Camp last January in what was a move worth £46.3million, Torres has failed to lay down much of a marker in Catalonia.

Often having to play second choice to Polish record-breaker Robert Lewandowski, The Sun reported last week that Barcelona are already willing to cash in on the 35-cap international over the next six weeks.

Still dealing with some public financial issues, it is believed that Arteta’s side fancy their chances of agreeing on a cut-price deal in January.

Although The Mail’s report does suggest that a host of European clubs are monitoring Torres’ situation, the World Cup star could be open to an immediate Premier League return.
