With Bayer Leverkusen enjoying what has been a stunning Bundesliga charge so far this season, it appears that Germany’s elite could be set for another hectic title race in 2024.

However, while England international Jadon Sancho might be inching towards a shock return to Borussia Dortmund, it has been suggested that a host of Bundesliga superstars could be heading in the opposite direction.

In what looks set to be a hectic January transfer window from across Germany, we have taken a look at three Bundesliga stars who could be heading to England this month.

Timo Werner – RB Leipzig

While Timo Werner might have only made an emotional return to RB Leipzig last year, it appears that the German international is set for a shock immediate Premier League switch over the coming days.

Although the 27-year-old might have struggled to find much stability at Stamford Bridge after arriving in a £50million back in 2020, Werner will be returning to the English capital looking to prove a point.

Omitted from RB Leipzig’s squad over the weekend, it has been confirmed that the 57-cap international will be joining Tottenham on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

With it suggested that a fee in the region of £15-20million has been included in that deal should Spurs wish to make Werner’s move a permanent one, the former Chelsea star is expected to be unveiled in north London within the next 48 hours.

Lifting a Champions League medal with Tottenham’s bitter London rivals three years ago, Werner’s energetic approach could blend well with the new high-tempo approach that Ange Postecoglu is implementing with the top-four contenders.

Serhou Guirassy – Stuttgart

While the record-breaking Harry Kane might have continued to steal all of the Bundesliga’s headlines this season, the England skipper is not the only striking superstar who has enjoyed a stunning domestic romp.

Although Serhou Guirassy might have impressed many across Germany’s elite last season as he bagged 12 goals in his maiden campaign, the 27-year-old has embarked on a remarkable run this time around.

Along with signing off 2023 with another strike in Stuttgart’s 3-0 victory against Augsburg, the former Rennes ace has registered 17 goals in his first 14 Bundesliga appearances this season.

While Guirassy might be set for a month away from Bundesliga action as he features for Guinea at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, Stuttgart’s attacking talisman has a host of European heavyweights that are chasing his signature.

Cementing his spot as one of Europe’s most clinical striking stars this season, the likes of Newcastle, West Ham and Premier League giants Manchester United are all keen on activating Guirassy’s £17.5million release clause.

Jeremie Frimpong – Bayer Leverkusen

Enjoying what has been a remarkable rise under Xabi Alonso and continuing to receive a string of plaudits from across the continent, Bayer Leverkusen have their sights set on making real Bundesliga history this season.

Entering Germany’s festive break with a routine 4-0 romp against Bochum, Die Werkself hold a four-point buffer at the top of the table and are now dreaming of the chance to get their hands on a first domestic crown since 2011.

However, while Alonso’s men might have gained a reputation for their free-flowing performances in the final third, Dutch defender Jeremy Frimpong has been a key part of Leverkusen’s success.

Really bursting onto the scene since arriving from Scottish giants Celtic two years ago, the 23-year-old has quickly emerged as one of Europe’s standout defensive starlets.

While Alonso might have made it abundantly clear that he is desperate for Frimpong to stay put at the BayArena this month, the likes of Aston Villa and Chelsea are reportedly eager to complete a January swoop.
