The Deadline Day Round-Up: A look at the Premier League Deadline Deals that you might have missed

In what was a summer transfer window for the record books, things finally slammed to a close on Friday night as Premier League clubs eventually spent a staggering £2.36bn on new recruits.

While the likes of Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo might have completed their own bank-breaking move earlier in the window, Deadline Day proved to be another pulsating 24 hours from across the country.

With a host of top-flight clubs scrambling to get their late acquisitions completed, the likes of Matheus Nunes and Sofyan Amrabat stole most of the headlines throughout the evening.

Likewise, with Tottenham outcast Sergio Reguilon completing a shock loan switch to Manchester United, there were 28 Premier League transfers on Deadline Day.

With a hectic Deadline Day now officially in the record books, we have taken a look at a handful of late Premier League moves that you might have missed among all the madness.

Neal Maupay – Everton to Brentford, loan

While Everton might have splashed £15million as they welcomed Neal Maupay to Goodison Park from Brighton last summer, the 27-year-old has endured a nightmare in the blue half of Merseyside.

Only bagging a single Premier League strike in his 29 appearances last season, the former French U21 international has failed to find any kind of stability in his 12-month stay at Everton.

With the Toffees making it clear since the summer transfer window opened up that they were already keen on cashing in on Maupay, the ex-Brighton striker completed a shock return to former club Brentford on Deadline Day.

Maupay scored 41 goals in 95 games for the Bees between 2017 and 2019 and will offer some cover in the absence of attacking talisman Ivan Toney.

Brentford are currently without the England international due to his eight-month suspension for betting charges. Toney is not set to make his return until the start of 2024.

Albert Sambi Lokonga – Arsenal to Luton, loan

Making what was a famous top-flight return this season after enjoying a Championship fairytale, Luton are more than aware that they face a heavyweight uphill battle this time around.

While the mood in Rob Edwards’ side might remain at a red-hot high, it is no secret that the Hatters are tipped as a landslide leading contender to be hit with an immediate Championship return in 2024.

However, despite losing each of their opening three Premier League appearances, fans around Kenilworth Road will be excited by the Deadline Day arrival of Belgium midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Making the loan switch from title contenders Arsenal, the 23-year-old made 15 appearances for the Gunners last season before spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Crystal Palace, playing nine times.

In total, he has made 34 Premier League appearances, 24 of which came in an impressive debut season with the Gunners.

Luis Sinisterra – Leeds to Bournemouth, loan

Losing their Premier League status last season and coming under a huge amount of scrutiny, Leeds have endured a major transition behind the scenes at Elland Road this summer.

While the Lilywhites might have managed to keep hold of Wilfried Gnonto despite continued speculation surrounding a move to Everton, Daniel Farek’s men were forced to watch Luis Sinisterra leave the club on Deadline Day.

With the 24-year-old making it clear over the summer that he wanted to force a move away from Yorkshire following Leeds’ top-flight relegation, Sinisterra completed a last-gasp switch to Bournemouth on a season-long loan.

Sinisterra, 24, who scored eight goals in 25 games for Leeds since joining last season, is the Cherries’ eighth signing of the summer.
The deal includes an option to buy the Colombian, who has three goals in seven appearances for his country. As part of the season-long loan deal, Bournemouth’s Jaidon Anthony has completed his own respective move in the opposite direction.
