The England internationals looking to kickstart their careers with a move this summer

While clubs up and down the Premier League are looking to get their final deals over the line before the transfer window slams shut next month, managers won’t just have their sights set on bringing in new arrivals.

With every side across the country feeling the pinch due to the current climate, the people behind the scenes know that it is as important to make sure they can get players out of the exit this summer.

With the likes of Dele Alli linked with a potential move away from Spurs, there still remains a string of question marks surrounding a number of England internationals and their futures.

As a number of Gareth Southgate’s fringe players search for regular first-team action this summer, who are the Three Lions’ stars in desperate need of a career kickstart?

Ross Barkley – Chelsea

Although Ross Barkley might have come off the bench in Chelsea’s 2-0 loss against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, many around West London feel that the former Everton starlet is going to see his game time take another big hit this season.

With Frank Lampard’s youngsters already breaking the bank this summer and spending over £200million, the arrival of Kai Havertz has only seen Barkley slide even further down Lampard’s pecking order.

Struggling to forge a regular spot at Stamford Bride and well behind the likes of N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovačić, it was reported by The Sun this summer that Chelsea are willing to use the 26-year-old as a bargaining chip to bring in another of Lampard’s midfield targets.

With it no secret that the former Premier League champions are desperate to bring West Ham’s Declan Rice across London before the window shuts next month, it has been reported that Lampard has offered the Hammers Barkley as part of any potential deal.

Not featuring for Southgate’s squad over the past 13 months, Barkley knows that only regular action will help him find a way back into the Three Lions’ picture.

Danny Rose – Tottenham

With Tottenham announcing last week that the much-sort after Sergio Reguilón had signed a five-year-deal in North London after making the move from Real Madrid, that really appears to be the final nail in Danny Rose’s Spurs career.

Spending the end of last season on loan at Newcastle and with the Magpies passing on the chance to make that move a permanent one, the 30-year-old finds himself at a real career crossroads.

Clearly not part of Jose Mourinho’s plans and watching Reguilón handed his number three shirt at Tottenham, it was reported by Sky Sports earlier in the month that Spurs have opened discussions with Italian outfit Genoa over a potential move this summer.

Now in the final year of his deal with Tottenham after a 13-year stay in North London, it had also been reported that Genoa’s Serie A rivals Cagliari had also been keen to sign Rose, but no longer appear to be in the running for his signature.

Now well behind Ben Chilwell in the race to be England’s number one choice left-back, it is no surprise that Rose is desperate to kickstart his career elsewhere this summer.

Jesse Lingard – Manchester United

Not even handed a place among the Manchester United substitutes for their shock 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford over the weekend, it appears that Jesse Lingard’s time at the former champions is rapidly drawing to a close.

With it reported by The Daily Express that the now-former England international was furious with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to omit him from their matchday squad on Saturday, the 27-year-old has only continued to freefall down United’s pecking order since Bruno Fernandes’ arrival back in January.

Not seen to be part of Southgate’s immediate plans and only managing to muster a single Premier League goal last season, Lingard could be handed a shock opportunity to kickstart his career under one of his former bosses.

With it also appearing that Dele Alli could be on the move this summer, ESPN are reporting that Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham are interested in handing the midfielder a route out of Old Trafford.

Featuring heavily under Mourinho during his spell in Manchester and still held in high regard by ‘The Special One’, Lingard would undoubtedly jump at the opportunity to secure a move to Spurs before the window closes next month.
