The England internationals that could still be set for a dramatic late summer move

While the Premier League might have officially made its return last weekend, the summer transfer window remains open and many are expecting a frantic end over the final week.

Although Conor Gallagher might have finally completed his move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid on Wednesday morning, there are plenty of other England internationals that have plenty of question marks over their futures.

With the Premier League’s summer transfer window officially slamming shut on August 30th, we have taken a look at some of the English superstars that could be set for a dramatic late move.

Ivan Toney – Brentford

While Brentford might have made it clear over the summer break that they want Ivan Toney to stay put in west London, it appears almost inevitable that the one-time Newcastle youngster will be leaving the English capital over the next week.

With Toney publicly stating that he sees his future away from the Bees, the England international has no interest in signing a new deal with Thomas Frank’s side.

Completely left out of Brentford’s squad for their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace last weekend, the 28-year-old could be set for a remarkable move to Saudi Arabia.

While it might have been reported over the past few months that the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham were keen on Toney, it appears that Middle Eastern giants Al Ahil are leading the chase.

While reports might have suggest that both parties are still some distance away from agreeing on a deal, Al Ahil have identified Toney as they key summer target and are confident that they can reach what would be a bank-breaking deal.

Raheem Sterling – Chelsea

While Raheem Sterling might have only arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2022, the former Manchester City star has drastically struggled to find his feet in west London and Chelsea are desperate to move on the 29-year-old.

Reportedly earning £300,000-per-week, the Blues are desperate to get Sterling off of their wage bill and are keen on pushing the 82-cap international out of the Stamford Bridge exit.

Completely omitted from Chelsea’s opening weekend squad against Manchester City last weekend, Sterling has also been excluded from Enzo Maresca’s Europa Conference League set-up.

While the one-time Liverpool starlet might still have three years remaining on his current deal in west London, Maresca does not see Sterling as part of his plans this season.

Although the England international might have made it clear that he wants to stay put at Stamford Bridge and fight for his spot, there has been recent speculation that Juventus are planning a late summer swoop.

Jadon Sancho – Manchester United

Although Erik ten Hag might have stated that all of his issues with Jadon Sancho have been resolved, it appears that the 24-year-old will still be heading for the Manchester United exit this summer.

Enjoying what was a successful loan stint with Borussia Dortmund last season after completing a loan switch during January’s transfer window, Sancho has serious question marks over his future at Old Trafford.

Not even handed a spot on ten Hag’s bench during United’s 1-0 victory against Fulham last week, Sancho is reportedly keen on securing a permanent move away from the red half of Manchester over the next week.

At the heart of a public feud with the former Ajax boss last year, there has been plenty of speculation over the past few months that a move to French giants PSG could be on the cards.

Desperate to kickstart his career and try and force a route back into the England squad, United are reportedly winning to accept an offer in the region of £40million and it has been suggested that Chelsea are keeping a close eye on how things unfold over the coming days.

Aaron Ramsdale – Arsenal

Watching David Raya make his move to the Emirates a permanent one this summer after arriving on an initial season-long loan switch from Brentford, Aaron Ramsdale will know the importance of securing his Arsenal exit before the transfer window slams shut.

Dethroned between the sticks by the Spanish shot-stopper last season and now fully accepting that his is Mikel Arteta’s second choice, Ramsdale has made it clear that he wants to play first-team football.

With two years remaining on his current deal with the Premier League title contenders, the 26-year-old made just 11 appearances across all competitions last season.

While Dutch icons Ajax might have been linked with a potential move from Ramsdale last week, news broke on Monday that Wolves have already reached out to Arsenal over a potential deal.

Although Arteta’s side might favour a permanent move for the former Bournemouth goalkeeper, Wolves are hopeful that they can agree on an initial loan deal that includes a potential but clause for next summer.
