In an exclusive interview with Serbian outlet Telegraf, Nemanja Matic of Manchester United was adamant that his future remains unclear at the moment.
The 31-year-old midfielder, a two-time Premier League winner with Chelsea who followed Jose Mourinho to Old Trafford in 2017, hasn’t been playing nearly as much as he would’ve wanted this season, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred in the heart of his team at the moment, and Paul Pogba due to resume his usual duties there as well after a long injury layoff. Matic has so far made only four appearances in the Premier League (three starts), three in the Europa League and one in the Carabao Cup.
The Serbia international says United have an option to extend his contract, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll be taking it up. He cannot say much on the subject of his future simply because he doesn’t know much himself. Meanwhile, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid have been credited with interest in his services.
