With clubs from across the continent really starting to put together their summer plans, it appears that a number of Premier League heavyweights have a new number nine at the top of their wishlist.
While the likes of England skipper Harry Kane might have been linked with an immediate Premier League return, plenty of France’s striking stars are attracting real interest.
Although French giants PSG might be running away in this year’s title chase, there has been plenty of breakout attacking stars from among France’s elite.
Ahead of what looks set to be a frantic summer behind the scenes, we have taken a look at the Ligue 1 marksmen that who reportedly attracting serious Premier League interest.
Jonathan David – Lille
Now officially in the final few months of his current deal with Lille, Jonathan David finds himself at the heart of what has become a major transfer saga.
Free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club from across Europe, the Canadian marksman is attracting plenty of Premier League interest and it appears a move to England is at the top of his agenda this summer.
While Lille might have watched their Champions League adventure come to an end earlier in the month as they fell to a 3-2 aggregate defeat against Borrusia Dortmund, David has enjoyed a sensational flurry across all fronts.
Notching 14 Ligue 1 strikes this season and only sat behind the duo of PSG talisman Ousmane Dembele and Marseille’s Mason Greenwood in the race for this year’s Golden Boot, David is now widely regarded as one of Europe’s hottest striking starlets.
While West Ham might still be trying to strike a deal and complete what would be a real coup, the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on David’s situation.
“I’m not sure if I’m staying [at Lille] or going, but if I do end up going, I’m going to push to play at the highest level.”

Mika Biereth – Monaco
While Mika Biereth might have only arrived at the Stade Louis II during the January transfer window, the 22-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable start to life among France’s elite.
Reportedly only costing Adi Hutter’s side in the region €13million after agreeing a deal with Austrian outfit Strum Graz, it is fair to say that the one-time Arsenal youngster has already repaid that fee.
Earning a first senior call-up with Denmark this month and featuring in both of their World Cup qualifying appearances over the past week, Biereth is embarking on a real rise to superstardom.
Heading into March’s international break with a goal against Angers during Monaco’s 2-0 victory, the former Motherwell loanee has bagged an astonishing 11 strikes in his first nine Ligue 1 appearances.
Breaking a string of records despite only arriving at the Stade Louis II at the back end of January, reports have suggested that Arsenal have held discussions behind the scenes about bringing their former academy prospect back to north London ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Evann Guessand – Nice
With Nice setting their sights on securing a first Champions League ticket since 2017 this season, the red-hot Evann Guessand has been pivotal in Franck Haise’s domestic charge.
Although the Ivory Coast international might have often had to play a supporting role last season, Guessand is clearly relishing life as Nice’s leading man and has enjoyed a breakout Ligue 1 campaign.
Once again finding the net against Auxerre during Nice’s 1-1 stalemate prior to March’s fortnight interval, the 23-year-old has notched 11 Ligue 1 strikes this year and is the only player at the Allianz Riviera to reach double digits.
While West Ham might still be desperately trying to complete a pre-contract agreement with David, it has been suggested that the Hammers are a budding admirer of Nice’s leading marksman.
Likewise, watching Jhon Duran complete a controversial Saudi Arabian switch during the January transfer window, it has also been reported that Aston Villa have identified Guessand as a potential replacement.
