While Barcelona might have failed to mount any real title charge in La Liga this season, it does appear that the Spanish giants have found a domestic boost under Xavi.
Despite shockingly being dumped out of the Europa League by German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt last month, the Catalonia outfit have managed to book a Champions League return with time to spare.
Watching Jordi Alba snatch a last-gasp winner as they played out a 2-1 victory against Real Betis on Saturday, Xavi has been open about needing a squad overhaul at the Nou Camp this summer.
While there might be continued speculation surrounding a blockbuster move for Robert Lewandowski, we have taken a look at a few Premier League stars who have been linked with a move to Barca over the coming weeks.
Marcos Alonso – Chelsea
While Chelsea might have thrown away the lead on Saturday afternoon as they eventually played out a 2-2 draw at home against Wolves, Marcos Alonso has continued to gain plenty of praise over recent weeks.
With England international Ben Chilwell picking up a season-ending knee injury back in December, the one-time Real Madrid defender has done an impressive job of filling Thomas Tuchel’s problem at left-back.
However, while Alonso might have received plenty of praise from the former Borussia Dortmund boss, Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano stated last week that Barcelona are keen on snapping up the 31-year-old this summer.
Soon to enter the final 12 months of his current deal at Stamford Bridge, The Express also reported over the weekend that Alonso is leaning towards a potential return to his homeland ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Raphinha – Leeds
While Leeds might have found an immediate boost after bringing Jesse Marsch to Elland Road back in February, the Whites now once again find themselves at the heart of a relegation scrap.
Hit with a 2-1 defeat away at Champions League contenders Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, it also appears that one of their big-name stars could be inching towards the exit this summer.
Along with being heavily linked with a move away during that January transfer window, it has once again been widely suggested across Spain that Barcelona are sat in pole position to snap up Brazilian ace Raphinha.
Having a rather public falling out with now-former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa earlier in the year, The Express reported over the weekend that Raphinha is willing to force a move to Catalonia after bagging 10 Premier League strikes this season.
Bernardo Silva – Manchester City
While Bernardo Silva might have failed to prevent Manchester City from crashing out of the Champions League after that stunning 6-5 aggregate defeat against Real Madrid last week, the one-time Monaco man has continued to shine this season.
Playing a vital role as the Sky Blues find themselves inching towards another Premier League crown, there is no doubt that the 27-year-old is a firm fan favourite around the Etihad.
However, speaking openly last summer about a potential move away from the English giants, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo are suggesting that Silva is once again a man in demand ahead over the coming weeks.
With reports circulating last week that Pep Guardiola’s side are keen on snapping up Dutch international Frenkie de Jong this summer, it appears that Barca are looking for Silva to be included in any potential offer.
Ruben Neves – Wolves
Although Wolves might have enjoyed a largely impressive maiden campaign under Bruno Lage this season, it is believed that the former Benfica boss could have a squad overhaul on his hands this summer.
Heavily linked with a potential move to both Manchester United and Arsenal during the January window, it has once again been reported that Ruben Neves could be on his way out of Molineux.
With it believed that a fee in the region of £50million could be enough to tempt Wolves to part ways with the Portuguese international, The Daily Mail are suggesting that Neves has plenty of admirers in Catalonia.
However, while reports in Spain might be suggesting that Barcelona have already opened talks with Neves’ team regarding a move this summer, they appear to face stiff competition from the likes of Italian heavyweights Juventus.
