Theirry Henry goes to MLS, Manchester City set to sign Edin Dzeko

Casillas tips Ashley Cole to join Real Madrid

Spain captain Iker Casillas revealed Real Madrid was set to launch a bid to sign Chelsea’s Ashley Cole.

Ashley Cole looks set to be reunited with his former boss Jose Murinho in a £30million-deal according to Iker Casillas.

“From what I am hearing the signs look good. I have only briefly spoken to people at the club but I am confident that he can be a Real Madrid player next year.

“I think it will be the right move for him both professionally and personally.”

It was Mourinho who signed Cole for Chelsea from Arsenal in 2006 and Casillas believes The Special One will help the player revive his career.

“It will be his last big contract and who better to sign for than his old coach Mourinho at Real.

“He will know better than anybody this club will be successful under Jose.

“Jose has proved he buys players and makes them the very best in the world in their position.”

Gervinho rejects Liverpool switch

Lille forward Gervinho has rejected speculations linking him to a move to Liverpool, by opting to stay in France at least for another season.

The Ivory Coast international was one of the outstanding performers in French Ligue 1 last season and became a target for clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Nevertheless, the player does not want to move clubs yet and is set to continue at one of the most talented sides in Europe.

Gervinho said: “I’ll play with Lille next season. This is my first year.

“I still have two years of my contract to run. Do not panic. I had good times last season and still have good things to come.”

Manchester City set to break the bank to sign Edin Dzeko

Edin Dzeko is on the verge of joining Manchester City. The transfer will be worth €40 million.

Wolfsburg are holding out for €40 million for their brightest prospect and the latest reports are suggesting the Eastlands outfit are prepared to match their asking price.

City have so far been the only club to express a serious interest in the striker, with the Wolfsburg’s valuation of the player pricing out most of the potential suitors.

Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has given the go ahead for the deal and the Citizens have until Monday midnight to deliver the bank guarantees.

Wolfsburg’s coach Steve McClaren stated: “Until midnight on Monday we have no control over Dzeko’s situation.”
