Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has praised the club’s home supporters for making the Gunners feel that they can beat any opposition at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners’ supporters have propelled them to the third best home record, 11-2-2, in the English Premier League.
Furthermore, Arsenal have scored 34 goals at the Emirates Stadium in league play this season, while conceding just 12 in 15 matches.
In contrast, the Gunners have scored 28 goals and conceded 29 in 16 away fixtures in the Premier League in 2011-12. Subsequently, Arsenal have posted an average 7-2-7 away record.
All things considered, Arsene Wenger’s side are much more effective at the Emirates Stadium, which is where they will take on Manchester City on Sunday, April 8 at 16:00 GMT.
“I think the fans expect us to win every game, and we expect to go out there, play our best and we feel we can win every game,” Walcott told Arsenal’s official website.
“The Emirates is starting to become a fortress, which is what we want it to be. That is with the help of the fans, they develop that.”
Walcott’s comments are “well-timed” to say the least. In other words, the mind games have begun.
Balotelli’s Confession
On the other side of the touchline, City forward Mario Balotelli has just admitted to having a “fling” with Miss Jennifer Thompson, the escort previously linked with Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.
“Mario prefers to admit what has happened, has refused any means on offer to try to keep the matter silent and will deal with any consequences his actions bring in the way of public attention,” said Mino Raiola, Balotelli’s agent.
“However, he prefers to deal with his personal life in private and had told those close to him about this situation prior to any suggestion of this matter becoming public.”
I’ve got to admit that I’m a bit confused. Why would Balotelli admit to “what has happened” if he “prefers to deal with his personal life in private?”
The only explanation is the Balotelli and Manchester City are trying to play mind games with Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.
This story was a thing of the past before today, but once again, Mario Balotelli has got his name in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Again, why am I not surprised? Frankly, it’s a recurring phenomenon that it getting old quite quickly.
At this point, I don’t know if Balotelli will every truly figure it out, but I certainly hope he does.
He’s undoubtedly the future of Italian football, and one of the most talented footballers on the planet at the moment.
Will Mario Balotelli be able to get his name in the headlines for the right reasons in the future?
