As relayed by Fabrizio Romano, Thiago Almada has confirmed that there is an agreement in place for him to leave Argentinian side Velez Sarsfield and join Atlanta United in the MLS this December.
“Yes, the deal between Velez and Atlanta United for December seems almost completed,” the 20-year-old has been quoted in saying.
Primarily a central attacking midfielder, Almada is fully capable of causing problems for opposition defences from either flank if need be. This term he has 13 Liga Profesional appearances to his name, along with four goals and three assists.
An extremely talented and creative young player as he is, he has reportedly been attracting attention from scouting departments of clubs across Europe as well, but it seems none of them have acted decisively enough. The talks between Atlanta and Velez have been going on for some time and a deal was apparently close during the summer, but it obviously wasn’t completed in time.
