(GSM) – Internazionale’s Thiago Motta has called for video evidence to clear him for the Champions League Final after he was harshly sent off against Barcelona.
The Brazilian midfielder was shown a straight red card after 28 minutes of the second leg iof the semi-final when Sergio Busquets made the most of a fingertip to the face.
“It was an injustice,” he told Inter Channel. “Once I left the field, I saw on the replays that my opponent was on the ground peeking out to see if the referee was nearby.”
Not only did the sending off leave Inter with 10 men for over an hour, but it also means he’ll be suspended for the Final against Bayern München on May 22.
“This Final was my dream, which is why I still hope video evidence can clear me. Maybe the referee didn’t see, but someone else might’ve done.
“It was simply not honest from Barcelona. As the Coach said yesterday, if the players help the referee then it is easier for everyone.”
There was some irony in Thiago Motta’s predicament, as in Tuesday’s press conference he called some Barca players ‘divers’.
“I also saw the replays of the goal, which seemed to be offside, although I can admit that was more difficult to spot.
“What I can say for certain is that no other team can have our hunger to reach the Final. The same goes for the fans who followed us to Spain and deserved this achievement.”
