According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Thiago Silva on a one-year deal.
In the wake of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League final defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich on Sunday night, Silva has officially become a free agent. He spent eight years with the French champions after making his way over from AC Milan back in 2012, but now, he’s on the verge of becoming the third signing of the summer transfer window for Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
The Blues have wasted no time in getting straight to work during the summer transfer window, and it feels like this could still just be the beginning for them as they attempt to pursue an unlikely push for the Premier League title next season.
Whether or not a veteran like Silva is going to be the key behind such a surge remains to be seen.
