Thiago Silva: My wife said no to Real

Milan centre-back Thiago Silva admits it was his wife who stopped him from joining Real last summer.

The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu but the move did not go through and he explains why.

“It’s true, I know. But my wife Isabel has always answered for me,” said Silva.

“She was the one to first say ‘no’ to Real. She definitely prefers Milan to Madrid.”

After his son was born in Milano, the 26-year-old has set his minds on staying at the club for as long as possible.

“I hope to be (at Milan) for as long as possible. I would have no problem playing here until I am 40 like Maldini.”
