According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva is set to leave the French champions when his contract officially expires at the end of the current season.
The veteran appears set to continue his professional career elsewhere, but given that he’s in his mid-30s, it doesn’t appear as if another major club is going to take him on – and if they do, he’d likely serve as a back-up to the starting defenders.
Silva has often been viewed as one of the most complete defenders in world football but as the years have gone on, questions have been raised about whether or not he’s still at that level.
PSG themselves are clearly starting to look ahead to the future, and that should entail a big set of changes in the months and years to come.
One thing is for sure, though, Thiago Silva’s contributions in the capital will not be forgotten in a hurry.
