Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Meunier has been mentioned as a possible solution to Arsenal’s defence woes, but the Belgian says coach Thomas Tuchel can still count on him, Mirror reports.
Although the 28-year-old has previously indicated that there is a distant possibility he might be leaving Parc des Princes due to the fact that he is so often an unused substitute at the club, he also said he would love to stay in Paris and that, with one year left of his contract, he was hoping to get an extension.
Despite the frustration due to the lack of minutes on the pitch, and bearing in mind the recently reported rumours that he might be leaving in January, the right-back said he would stay true to his club until the expiration of his contract next summer or more.
Meunier scored a goal in the team’s 3-0 Champions League win against Real Madrid on Wednesday, but he hasn’t played in the last three Ligue 1 games. He said that “the coach will make his own decisions”, but it remains to be seen whether the Belgian will continue to be so accepting of them, considering he believes that “the happiness in football is playing”.
