Thomas Muller to leave Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich and Thomas Muller have agreed to part ways when the forward’s contract expires at the end of the season, the Bundesliga giants have officially confirmed.

“World Cup winner, two-time treble winner, record appearance maker: FC Bayern and Thomas Muller, 35, have decided together to bring an end to a unique career spanning 25 years and 33 trophies this summer,” the official statement reads.

A total of 743 appearances in all competitions for the club so far, with 247 goals and 273 assists. No less than 12 Bundesliga titles, with one more very likely to come at the end of the season. Two Champions League trophies, two UEFA Super Cups, two FIFA Club World Cups, six DFB-Pokal trophies, eight German Super Cups. On top of it all, 131 caps and 45 goals as a Germany international, crowned with the World Cup trophy in 2014. A perfect example of an impressively stellar career.

Muller has issued a statement of his own regarding the decision for him to leave the club.

“It’s clear that today is not like any other day for me. My 25 years as an FC Bayern Munich player will come to an end in the summer. It’s been an incredible journey, shaped by unique experiences, great encounters and unforgettable triumphs. I feel immense gratitude and joy that I got to make this career with my beloved club. The special connection to the club and our fantastic fans will always remain. What I want as a farewell should be clear: titles we can celebrate together, and moments we’ll remember fondly for a long time. We’re going to give our all in the coming weeks to bring the league title back to Munich and reach our coveted ‘Finale Dahoam’. Let’s do it together!”
