Barcelona will have to make great sacrifices if they want to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain. The Catalans would have to part ways with both Ousmane Dembele and Ivan Rakitic. But Dembele going to PSG would make a lot of sense, according to AS.
Thomas Tuchel has been at the helm of the French club from May 2018, which he joined after the messy break-up with Borussia Dortmund. It was at Dortmund that the Tuchel-Dembele relationship developed: Tuchel came in April 2015, while Dembele joined him in 2016.
Dembele’s stint in Germany was short and successful: he appeared in 50 matches, scored 10 goals and made 21 assists; he famously switched clubs less than a year and a half after signing and joined Barcelona in 2017. At that time, Tuchel had been sacked and the Frenchman said he was very disappointed with the way the club had treated the coach who taught him a lot.
So going to PSG and back to Tuchel might not be such a bad idea, especially since Dembele’s career at Camp Nou has been plagued by injuries and indiscipline and is not going in the desired direction. Tuchel has apparently called Dembele personally to convince him to accept the switch.
