The curse of “Neverkusen”, as the rival fans used to mock Bayer Leverkusen for the fact that the crown of German football avoided them for close to 120 years, is broken.
Bayer Leverkusen are 2023/24 Bundesliga champions, following their 5-0 thumping of Werder Bremen on Sunday at the BayArena, and the outburst of joy from their supporters at the final whistle is more than understandable.
