Germany striker Miroslav Klose is set to spend the next three weeks on the sidelines at Bayern Munich after aggravating a thigh muscle injury, it was revealed on Thursday.
Klose, 32, tore a muscle in his thigh in Germany’s 3-0 win over Kazakhstan in a Euro 2012 qualifier earlier this month and will sit out Bayern’s Bundesliga match against Freiburg on Friday.
The Munich hot-shot was enjoying a superb run of form for the national side, with six goals in four games this season leaving him only 10 shy of Gerd Mueller’s all-time record of 68 in a Germany shirt.
Having sat out Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Werder Bremen in the German Cup with ‘flu, Klose pulled up in training and a scan revealed the damage.
Germany’s next game is a friendly against Sweden in Gothenburg on November 17 and their next Euro 2012 qualifier is against Kazakhstan in Kaiserslautern next March.
