Sporting Lisbon have confirmed they are considering a move for Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori.
The youngster only left the Lions in the summer to sign for the Reds, but he has since failed to make a single appearance for his new club, and only made the match squad on two occasions.
Liverpool are, therefore, expected to allow the player to leave on loan during the winter transfer window, and it looks as though he might be returning to Estadio Jose Alavalde.
A Lions official has confirmed the club are interested in taking the 20-year-old back to Lisbon at the earliest opportunity.
“We have decided to study this subject but it depends on the Reds,’ a club official was quoted as saying by The Metro. “We have not formally received any communication from Liverpool.”
Tiago Ilori exploded onto the big stage last term, making a total of 11 league starts for Sporting and scoring one goal.
Liverpool in turn completed a £7 million signing near the end of the summer transfer window, but the stopper hasn’t yet been given an opportunity to showcase his skills.
