(GSM) – Atletico Madrid have successfully signed Juventus midfielder Tiago on loan until the end of the season. Tiago has long been unsettled at Juve and his move to the capital of Spain has been in the talks for quite a while now.

Tiago has passed a medical at the Vicente Calderon but the Portugal midfielder will not be presented until Monday as he will be available for selection for Juve’s clash with AC Milan.

Atletico have confirmed the signing of the 28-year-old Portugal international. The loan deal includes an option to buy, according to the Madrid-based club.

“Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Juventus for the temporary signing of the player Tiago Cardoso Mendes, with the option to buy,” read a statement on the Spanish club’s website.

“The midfielder will be presented by club president Enrique Cerezo on Monday.”

Tiago was signed from Lyon after Juventus returned to the Serie A with high expectations. However, he did not perform up to the hype he received and fell out of favor with the critics in Italy as well as the Bianconeri fans.
