Tiago Mendes linked with MLS switch

Spanish daily newspaper Marca understands that Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago Mendes has been the subject of numerous offers from abroad.

The 35-year-old was handed a one-year contract extension despite missing a large chunk of last season through injury, and he is now determined to pay the club back.

According to Marca, Tiago has received quite a few proposals from United States, Australia and Asia, but he is adamant he doesn’t want to quite los Colchoneros until the club decide to let him go.

The veteran midfielder is incredibly loyal to Atletico Madrid, who gave him a chance to resurrect his career after a somewhat disappointing spell with Juventus, and he is ready to help out whenever his services are required.

At the same time, head coach Diego Simeone appreciates having such a quality player as his back-up option, especially since the Portuguese midfielder never complains about the lack of playing time.
