Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago Mendes is widely expected to quit Vicente Calderon this summer, reports Marca.
The experienced footballer has established himself as one of key players for los Colchoneros both on and off the pitch and he was even appointed vice-captain by boss Diego Simeone.
But, while the Argentine and everybody at the club wants him to sign a new contract, Tiago seems to have other ideas on his mind.
Namely, with his current deal set to expire, the Portuguese midfielder believes the time is right for the final big contract of his career and he, therefore, plans to leave Atletico Madrid.
Clubs from England and Turkey are showing interest in the 33-year-old, while a move to the Far East appears to be a realistic possibility as well.
In spite of his impressive season in Spain, Tiago Mendes has missed out on Paulo Bento’s World Cup squad, with the Seleccao 3/1 to win their opening game against Germany.
