Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago Mendes will be offered a new deal at Vicente Calderon, according to Marca.
The veteran footballer will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign, but the club officials believe that he still has a lot to offer at the highest level.
As a result, Tiago will be offered a one-year extension, although los Colchoneros first want to see how he will recover from a difficult injury before making any commitments.
And even though clubs from China have been casting admiring glances his way, the 34-year-old reportedly wants to help Atletico in the final stretch of the season and thus also secure his place in the Portugal Euro 2016 squad, with the showpiece tournament in France likely to be his final international competition.
Having recruited Augusto Fernandez and Matias Kranevitter in January, Diego Simeone now has quite a few options in the middle of the park, but Tiago Mendes remains high in the pecking order at Vicente Calderon.
