Jean Tigana has quit from his role as Bordeaux manager in the wake of their 4-0 thrashing at home to Sochaux on Saturday.

The former Fulham boss lasted less than a year in the role after being announced as Laurent Blanc’s replacement on May 25 last year.

His team failed at home to Sochaux, conceding four goals in the opening half an hour.

The 55-year-old said abuse directed towards his teenage daughter in the grandstand during the game forced him to make his decision.

“That was the last press conference that I will give you,” Tigana said.

“It was a disastrous evening for the club and me. My daughter was harassed in the stands. She’s already getting hassled at school, so I’m taking the decision to end my journey with Bordeaux.”

“For me, that’s not football. If the people in the stands think that the problem is Jean Tigana…”

“There are enough problems like that in the world. I don’t want to create more of them at Bordeaux.”
